Tarcus is a Monterrey-based vehicle armoring company, who needed A name, a logo and its corporate stationary. As a new company was to penetrate the mexican market it had to distinguish itself from its competitors: look stronger and project newer technology. Common armories tend towards initials for their company name and logo, we needed strong, simple & short phonetics, hence we turned to an old Emerson, Lake & Palmer album named Tarkus (yes, with a k). The creature featured in the album’s cover is a tanked armadillo, so the picture was set: The logo was to be a mexican-type armadillo, which is an armored animal, made up of precise angles to reflect its strength and technology opposed to a slim, yet strongly built typeface.
